5 Ways Blogging Can Grow Your Business
From creators to hotels to travel brands, establishing a solid online presence is necessary- which is why you can find most businesses on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or all three. But in today’s digital landscape, it can be challenging to stand out, and that’s where blogging comes in. In today’s post, we will explore 5 ways blogging can grow your business, improve engagement, and help you reach a wider audience.
Blogging Increases Brand Awareness
If you are an entrepreneur, photographer, creator, or travel-related business, in my humble opinion, having a blog for your business is an absolute must. Don’t get me wrong, having an online presence on social media is essential, too, but blogging can help you expand your online reach and increase brand awareness. By blogging, your business will exposed to more potential customers.
Back in 2010, I had my first taste of blogging. I had just started a business as a social media manager and was looking for all the exposure I could get. What better way to get noticed than to appear in Google search results? So, I built a blog from scratch, learning WordPress & SEO along the way. I identified key phrases I wanted to show up for in Google search results and went to work. In less than a year, I landed on the first page of Google for my key phrase, “social media management Atlanta.” Things began to take off as I attracted more clients and landed a few speaking gigs.
Blogging is a great tool to expand your online reach and showcase your skills and expertise. It’s your corner of the internet to tell your story, share your work, and establish yourself as an authority in your niche.
Become a Go-To Resource
Blogging is a way to share your interests and passions with the world and establish yourself as a go-to resource in your particular niche.
For example, if you are a travel creator who lives & travels throughout Florida, your blog posts could center around the topic of Florida travel. You could become the go-to resource people turn to when planning a trip to Florida. By blogging consistently about Florida, you establish yourself as an authority on Florida travel.
On the other hand, if you are a hotel, your blogs could center around hotel events such as weddings so that you attract brides-to-be. You could also blog about area activities and attractions. Not only would you give people a reason to stay at your property, but also promote the destination and location.
As you can see, the possibilities are endless. Regardless of your business or niche, there is an audience out there who would love to hear your unique perspective. Focus on becoming a helpful go-to resource, and you will connect with more potential clients.
Stay Top-of-Mind with Evergreen Content
First, you might be asking yourself, “What is evergreen content?” Evergreen content is content, such as a blog, that stays relevant and discoverable for an extended period because it is search-optimized. Some of your blog posts have the potential to become evergreen content. Unlike an Instagram post or TikTok video that may be out of sight or out of mind within just a few days after it disappears from a feed, your blog posts will continue to exist on the internet.
The other day, when researching the Grand Tetons for an upcoming trip, a blog post written in 2016 popped up in my Google search results. Isn’t that cool that a blog post written seven years ago is still getting views and making an impact? With blogging, you leave behind a trail of your thoughts, experiences, knowledge, and insights. And with evergreen content, you have the potential to grow your business for years to come.
Blogging Builds Community
Blogging is not just about talking to an empty void; it’s about building a community and connecting with your audience. I love social media as much as the next person, but witty one-line captions pale compared to an authentic, well-written blog or thoughtful, emotion-provoking Instagram captions. Blogging provides the opportunity to do more of that, be authentic, make connections, and build community.
I have a friend and writer who lost her husband unexpectedly a few years ago and now writes and shares her experience as she navigates loss and healing. Her posts show vulnerability, build connections, and make an impact as she encourages others who might find themselves in a similar phase of life. Can you imagine what a blessing she is to others who might find themselves in a similar situation? And the impact her corner of the internet and community has on others?
Regardless of your chosen blogging topic or your business, you can engage with your audience and make connections in your own unique way. Provide value, interact, and watch as a supportive community grows around your blog and business.
Blogging Provides Social Media Content
I am all about repurposing content, and blogging makes that easy, especially for busy business owners. Not only can your blog post improve your website traffic, but it can also be repurposed for other social platforms.
Here are a few ways you could share or repurpose a blog for social media content:
- Share the link to your post on social platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter)
- Share the photos and snippets on Instagram as a post, story, or reel. Also, you can share the link to your blog through stories or create a direct link in your bio.
- With that concept in mind, the same could be done for TikTok, YouTube shorts, or a regular YouTube video.
- Finally, pin the images in your post to Pinterest, using blog snippets for captions. When you add the post’s direct link to the pin, it links directly to your blog post, which, in turn, gets more eyes on your work.
Final Thoughts
In my humble opinion, blogging is a rewarding and worthwhile endeavor that can grow your business. From brand awareness to building community to becoming a go-to resource for your niche, blogging is the beginning of an incredible journey!
