  1. Swim With Turtles at Maho Bay Beach: If you’re looking for a chance to spot sea turtles while snorkeling or swimming, Maho Bay Beach is the place to be. The calm waters and gentle waves create the perfect environment for these majestic creatures. Just a reminder, never touch the turtles! 
  2. Visit Trunk Bay: Start your journey with a visit to the world-renowned Trunk Bay Beach, often hailed as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Sink your toes into the soft sands, bask under the sun, and snorkel along the famous underwater trail. 
  3. Hike to Peace Hill: Lace up your hiking boots and embark on the journey to Peace Hill. At the summit, you’ll find a historic sugar mill ruin and panoramic views that stretch as far as the eye can see.
  4. Charter a Boat Chartering a boat is one of the best ways to explore the island- they always seem to know the best spots and can tailor the trip to meet your specific desires! You can visit the British Virgin Islands. Jost Van Dyke, and the famous Soggy Dollar bar, are about a thirty-minute boat ride away.   
  5. Eco Tour: Embark on an eco-friendly tour to learn about the island’s fragile ecosystem. Kayak through mangroves, hike through tropical forests and discover the rich biodiversity that calls St. John home.
  6. Rent a Dinghy: If you have boating experience, then renting a dinghy is one of the best ways to explore. Go beach hopping by boat, and for my advanced snorkelers- check out Henley Cay, one of my favorite snorkel locations on St. John.
  7. Discover Salt Pond Bay: Escape the crowds and find serenity at Salt Pond Bay. Its golden sands and clear waters make it the perfect spot for swimming, beachcombing, and soaking up the sun.
  8. Kayak the Mangroves: Paddle your way through the enchanting mangroves of St. John. Kayak through narrow channels, witness unique ecosystems, and marvel at the lush greenery surrounding you.
  9. Snorkel the Coral Reefs: Dive into crystal-clear waters to discover the underwater wonders of St. John as you embark on a snorkel adventure. Don your snorkel gear and explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with colorful fish, sea turtles, and other marine life. 
  10. Sunrise Hike at Ram Head Trail:  The views from Ram Head Trail near the east end’s Salt Pond Bay are nothing short of spectacular. Waking up early on vacation is not my thing, but trust me- this one is worth it! 
  11. Explore Coral Bay: Venture into the quieter side of St. John by exploring Coral Bay. Its local eateries, and laid-back vibe make it the perfect place to experience the island’s local culture. LimeOut, Coral Bay’s famous floating taco bar, is an excellent choice for lunch or to enjoy a Sunday Jazz Brunch at Miss Lucy’s. 
  12. Snorkel at Waterlemon Cay: For an off-the-beaten-path snorkeling adventure, head to Waterlemon Cay. The crystal-clear waters and diverse marine life make it a snorkeler’s paradise.
  13. Sunset Picnic at Hawksnest Beach: Pack a picnic basket and head to Hawksnest Beach for a mesmerizing sunset experience. Watch as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink.
  14. Explore Annaberg Plantation: Immerse yourself in the island’s history at Annaberg Plantation. Wander through the ruins of this former sugar plantation and gain insights into the island’s colonial past.
  15. Sunset Sail: Treat yourself to a romantic sunset sail. Witness the sky ablaze with colors as you glide along the coastline, creating memories that will last a lifetime. We enjoyed a sunset champagne catamaran cruise with LowKey Watersports the last time we were there. It was lovely!
  16. Cinnamon Bay: Unwind at Cinnamon Bay a picturesque beach offering a variety of water activities, from kayaking to paddleboarding. The serene atmosphere and swaying palm trees will instantly put you in relaxation mode.
  17. Watch the Sunset at Windmill Bar: If you’d prefer to watch the sunset by land, make your way to Windmill Bar. About two miles from Cruz Bay, Windmill Bar is perched high on a hill and offers stunning sunset views. 
  18. Cruz Bay Exploration: Spend an afternoon exploring Cruz Bay, the island’s main town. Wander through the colorful streets, browse local shops, visit local art studios, and savor delicious Caribbean cuisine at one of the charming restaurants.
  19. Dine at Beachside Eateries: Indulge your taste buds in a culinary adventure at the island’s beachside eateries. A few of my Cruz Bay favorites include Longboard, Lovango Rum Bar, and Morgan’s Mango.
  20. Admire Petroglyphs at Reef Bay: Embark on a hike to Reef Bay and discover ancient petroglyphs etched into the rocks by the island’s indigenous inhabitants. This archaeological treasure is a glimpse into St. John’s rich history.
